CORE Program

CORE Program

The CORE Program, launched in May 2022, was established through a successful grant awarded to the Omak Police Department by Beacon Health (now Carelon Health), creating a co-response position within the police department. In 2023, the program was further expanded with additional funding from NCACH (now Thriving Together), enabling the addition of a second full-time position and the purchase of a dedicated patrol vehicle for the co-response team. The program focuses on providing crisis deescalation, case management, referrals, and follow-up services to individuals in need, while also fostering community engagement through workshops, social media initiatives, and collaboration with local providers.

In 2023, following a community workshop, the CORE Program successfully secured funding through the Department of Commerce CLIP grant to create Team O.N.E. (Omak Neighborhood Engagement), a subprogram dedicated to community involvement in crime prevention and safety efforts. Team O.N.E. coordinates events such as clean-ups, Citizens on Patrol, school crossing guards, and crime prevention workshops, with an emphasis on partnerships with businesses, citizens, and youth prevention.

Vision:
To build a safer, more connected community where law enforcement and community members collaborate seamlessly to address the needs of individuals, prevent crime, and foster a culture of safety and support.

Mission:
The CORE Program’s mission is to provide holistic support to individuals in need through co-response strategies, case management, and community partnerships. By offering services, resources, and engagement opportunities, we aim to create lasting connections that improve safety, prevent crime, and strengthen community bonds for all.
