Building Official Tyler Wells is responsible for overseeing every aspect of a building before it's built as it's being built and after it's completed.

The City of Omak owns and maintains approximately one hundred and five acres of park and recreation property with another 220 acres of undeveloped open space.  Omak's park lands include several small green spaces that are under a half-acre in size.  Although these "green spaces" have limited potential for development, they play an important role in the overall park system by providing aesthetic and enjoyment to  residents a visitors.  The rest of Omak's parks form a vital core of recreation opportunities in the area.

The mission of the Omak Volunteer Fire Department is to provide protection of life, property and the environment. Accomplished through fire suppression, fire prevention education, rescue operations and community involvement. With resources allocated and the authority granted we will provide to the citizens and visitors of the City of Omak quality cost effective emergency services.

The City of Omak operates a municipal court that deals with traffic infractions, parking infractions, and civil infractions. David Ebenger is the Omak Municipal Court Judge.

WELCOME to the Carl Precht Memorial RV Park which is located in the City owned Eastside Park nestled next to the Okanagan River in the midst of many Catalpa trees that provide great shade.  The Eastside Park is a spacious seventy seven acres and hosts many activities and is also home to the Omak Stampede and World Famous Suicide Race.  The RV Park has been expanded twice with our most recent improvement being an upgrade to the electrical in our center pull through section.  The power was upgraded from a thirty amp to a fifty amp so we can accommodate the larger motorhomes

As a member of the Omak Park Board, you will advise the mayor, the city council, and the departments, regarding the general supervision and control of all parks and recreational facilities and programs of the City.  The board shall have the power to advise regarding the establishment of a park and/or recreation department and control. For more information about being a Park Board Member, contact Mayor, Cindy Gagné.

The Library Board is a five member board appointed by the mayor with consent of council.  As a member of the Library Board, you oversee the use of the library building on behalf of the city, to protect the city interest in the building and grounds.  They approve maintenance and utility billings and make budget requests as needed.  They also communicate through minutes the news and needs of the library. 

Regular Meetings of the Library Board are held on the second Monday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Omak City Library.  

The Civil Service Commission, after appointment by the Mayor, shall proceed to the election of a chairman who shall continue in office until subsequent reorganization of the Commission becomes necessary. 

Regular Meetings of the Civil Service Commission  are held on the third Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. at Omak City Hall, 2 N Ash Street.

The board for volunteer firefighters and reserve officers will consist of the following: the Mayor, City Clerk, one City Council member, the Fire Chief and one fire department member elected by the members.

Regular meetings of the board shall be the second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. at Omak City Hall, 2 N Ash Street, Omak.

The Omak Municipal Pool is home to the Omak Mantaray Swim Team.  This is a non-profit organization driven by volunteers.

Registrations for Swim Team are scheduled in June at the Omak Pool.

This 76.6 acre destination park is located in East Omak directly across the river from downtown Omak.  The park is home to the Stampede Arena, Stampede Office and Stampede Museum.  The 2nd weekend in August, this Park is transformed to host the annual Omak Stampede.  The park also contains a seasonal swimming pool, seven baseball fields, four soccer fields, four tennis courts, two basketball courts, a variety of play ground equipment and an enclosed skate park,.  The City owns a 68 space RV Park which is also located within the park and an enclosed dog park.  We offer a Veterans Memorial Ga

Omak Pioneer Park

The City of Omak owns the property for the Dalton Klessig Memorial Park.  Elizabeth Felgenhauer gave the land and a cash donation to the City in memory of her parents and grandparents.  Interested citizens spearheaded this new park.  This park is located west of the Wenatchee Valley Medical Clinic in north Omak.  The city and volunteers began construction of the park in 2002 with installation of electricity, irrigation system, landscaping and an asphalt-walking trail. 

2021 was an above average year for the Omak Fire Department with 322 calls for service.  There were 132 calls inside the city, 151 calls in Fire District No. 3 and 39 calls to other jurisdictions which include 88 fires, 89 rescue & emergency medical incidents, 12 hazardous conditions with no fire, 5 services calls, 78 good intent calls and 50 false calls.      

The dollar loss inside the City was $136,500 and $3,099,750 in Fire District No. 3 and other jurisdictions.  

The volunteers spent 1,493 man hours on fire calls and 2,056 man hours training.

The City will be applying Vectomax Fg (Bacillus sphaericus 2362, Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. Isrealensis); Vectobac GS (Bacillus thuringiensis, subsp. Israelensis); Natular XRT (Spinosad); and Biomist 4+4 (Permethrin, Piperonyl Butoxide), Censor(Spinosad), and Altosid SBGII(Methoprene) for mosquito control within the Omak Corporate City Limits during the abatement season. 

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE CITY OF OMAK MOSQUITO CONTROL APPLICATIONS

The goal of the City of Omak's weed control program is to conform to Okanogan County's noxious weed control policy. The removal of undesirable weeds is done by either chemical spray or mechanical means such as mowing. The City works directly with the Noxious Weed Control for effective herbicides to control the more difficult weeds such as baby's breath, Dalmatian toadflax, and knapweed. If noxious weeds are located on private property the noxious weed board will contact the property owner.

To provide a continuous clean and safe domestic water supply that meets or exceeds State and Federal drinking water standards as set forth by the Washington Department of Health. To provide sufficient water for fire protection. To maximize system reliability, minimize water loss, repair or improve system deficiencies cost effectively within an established budget. To protect the water system from contamination caused by backflow through our Cross-connection Control Program.
 

Located at 635 S Fir, the City operates a state-certified laboratory and performs all required tests on site.  The Sewer plant employs 2 full-time staff members that support and maintain operation compliance and lab work.  The City of Omak Wastewater Treatment Plant operations is a team effort under the direction of Jesus Arciniega.  In 2014, the City and Chief Operator Jesus Arciniega received the Wastewater Treatment Plant Outstanding Performance Award for the ninth consecutive year from the Department of Ecology.

We are pleased to announce that the City of Omak has streamlined its business registration by partnering with the Department of Revenue's Business Licensing Service (BLS).  This partnership became effective July 23, 2020.  If you are doing business in the City of Omak, you are required to have a business license and business registration.

Public Records

The City Clerk acts as the City of Omak Public Records Officer.  It is the role of the Public Records Officer to provide public access to current, as well as historical, documents.  The City of Omak provides access to public records under the provisions of the Washington State Public Records Act (RCW 42.56).

The City of Omak has recently approved Resolution 64-2011, formally adopting the Federal Fair Housing Act.  The City fully supports the rights and responsibilities of equal opportunity in housing through the Federal Fair Housing Act, and our resolve to support all aspects of that law.

Pursuant to RCW 39.34.040, an interlocal agreement "shall be filed with the county auditor or, alternatively, listed by subject on a public agency's website or other electronically retrievable public source."

The Omak School District will host the Annual Back to School Night.  This event will take place in Civic League Park located at 20 S Ash Street next to the Omak Library.  This is an opportunity for children to find out who their teacher will be, tour a school bus and participate in activities.

Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Omak will conduct a final budget public hearing on the 2024 Budget on Monday, November 20, 2022, 7:00 PM, in the Council Chambers of Omak City Hall, located at 2 North Ash, Omak, WA. All interested persons are invited to appear and voice their comments at said public hearing.

On Monday, December 18th, the Omak City Council Member's will be attending the "Annual Holiday Social" here at Omak City Hall in the Council Chambers 2 N. Ash Street.  This event will start at 6pm and end at 8:30pm.  Council will break at 7pm to conduct the regular meeting and once adjourned they will continue to socialize with staff and city partners.

The City of Omak is seeking an Outreach Specialist to join the CORE (Community, Outreach, Response, & Engagement) Program. The CORE Program was established in 2022 through grant funding and has recently received additional funding to employ a second Outreach Specialist to provide co-response services.

Julia Maley Park houses one of the city wells. This project is to build a water treatment facility for the well. This is one small step in helping  the City to provide clean water for the residents of Omak.

Site Work- Mobilization, TESP, Demolition, Cleanup, Rough grading, Underground piping, Underground electrical

Building- Excavate Footings, Pour building footings and slab, 

Omak's drinking water sources don't contain lead. However, lead can leach into water from plumbing materials, such as lead-based solder and brass fixtures.

If water has been standing in pipes for over 6 hours, flush out the pipes by running the tap for 2 minutes. To save water, use the water you flush out for watering plants or doing dishes.
