2007 Police Officer Salary
$3,219 - $3,884 per month
Education Incentive:
AA or 90 credit hours $35 month
BA or BS Degree $70 month
Plus generous medical, vision and dental plan, retirement, accrued sick leave and vacation. Uniforms, vests, jackets and firearms provided. Yearly on-the-job training.

Entry Level Officer
Þ United States citizen
Þ 21 years old
Þ Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Þ Washington State Driver
License or able to obtain
one prior to hire
Þ Pass oral board exam
Þ Pass physical fitness exam
Þ Pass background check: medial, polygraph, psychological, criminal records, work history and reference checks
Lateral Police Officer
Þ Entry Level Requirements
Þ Must be a graduate from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center Academy or successfully pass the equivalency academy within one year of hire
Þ A sworn officer within the last twelve months
Þ Must be off probation
General Duties & Responsibilities
· involve emergencies, vehicle accidents and other incidents;
· Patrol the City of Omak;
· Issue citations, make arrests, book and transport suspects;
· Enforce City, State and Federal laws;
· Exercise powers of arrest and control;
· Provide emergency assistance, maintain peace and protect those involved;
· Secure crime scenes;
· Interrogate possible suspects, prepare paperwork, present evident and testimony in legal and administrative proceedings;
· Have firearm and tazer training;
· Knowledge of computers helpful;
· Able to write reports with proper grammar usage.;
· Able to embrace Community Oriented Policing.
City of Omak PoliceDepartment The City of Omak was incorporated in 1911 under the Mayor-Council form of government. The police department currently consists of 11 full time commissioned police officers including two sergeants, two clerks, and one code enforcement officer. The City of Omak is the largest town in Okanogan County and is situated along the Okanogan River. The City of Omak is the business hub of the county.
